Man charged in slaying of teenage girl shot getting off bus

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities say a man has been charged in the shooting death of a 16-year-old girl hit by a bullet as she was getting off a bus in north Philadelphia.

Forty-one-year-old Robert Jamieson is charged with murder, attempted murder, reckless endangerment, and weapons offenses.

Police said the victim was hit in the shoulder as she stepped off a bus at about 4:40 p.m. Saturday.

The city’s acting police commissioner said the suspect appeared to be randomly firing. Police said at least 14 shots were fired, and his gun was empty when he was captured hiding behind a car. The district attorney says a felony drug conviction barred Jamieson from carrying a firearm.

Court documents indicate that Jamieson will be represented by the Defender Association of Philadelphia, which couldn’t be reached Sunday.
